Environmental Science or Outdoor and Environmental Studies

In this program students will investigate how humans have understood and interacted with wetland environments. They will explore the Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands and develop knowledge and understanding of wetland environments and how the wetlands are managed in response to environmental challenges, including the sustainable use and management of the wetlands.

Bookings

Step 1: One class per session

Step 2: Select available dates in the calendar - at least four weeks' notice for tour bookings is required

Student activities

  • Participate in a presentation about the Edithvale and Seaford wetlands
  • Identify green building design features of the Education Centre
  • Go on a guided tour of the wetlands and make observations on bird life and the environments

Note

  1. Prices are GST inclusive
  2. No additional cost for teaching staff
  3. Maximum group size is 30 (inclusive of students and teachers)
  4. Staff-student ratio: 1:20 with a minimum of 2 staff 
  5. Submitting a booking request does not constitute a confirmed booking or final price


Safety requirements

For safety, all visitors completing a wetland walk during their visit to the centre must meet minimum dress standards that include:
  • Required: long sleeves, long pants/trousers and enclosed shoes.
  • Not allowed: shorts, skirts, open-toed shoes, high heels or sandals.

Further information

  • Visits will be cancelled on days declared a Total Fire Ban or catastrophic danger rating or when air quality is very poor or extremely poor 
  • The wetland walk will be cancelled on days of extreme, catastrophic and Total Fire Ban danger ratings
  • Tours will need to be cancelled when a situation at the site is deemed unsafe.
