The Future Water Story - Bookings are open for 2025!

Early discounts are now available for schools to book The Future Water Story before 20 December, with dates available from March – December 2025. Tours will be running Tuesdays to Thursdays throughout each term.
The Future Water Story snapshot
This brand-new experience challenges and empowers students to make their city future-ready and sustainable by participating in:
- A Circular Cities Digital Challenge where they explore real-life water management scenarios within a hypothetical city environment and visualise the impacts of their choices over three decades.
- A tour of Melbourne's largest sewage treatment plant where they learn about sustainable water management.
How to book
Step 1: Select the number of groups or classes - Maximum group size is two classes (60 students) per day
Step 2: Select available dates in the calendar - at least four weeks' notice for tour bookings is required
Step 3: Click 'Book now' and complete
- the number of participants attending
- the relevant subject and year level (7/8, 9/10, VCE)
Booking details and notes
- Prices are quoted per class and are GST inclusive
- No additional cost for teaching staff
- Staff-student ratio: 1:20 with a minimum of 2 staff
- An invoice will be sent after your visit
- A cancellation fee will be apply with less than 5 business days' notice.
Bus hire
Groups must supply a bus for the tour and ensure the bus company has an appropriate public liability insurance policy ($10 million minimum).Safety requirements
For safety, all visitors to the Western Treatment Plant must meet minimum dress standards that include:- Required: long sleeves, long pants/trousers and enclosed shoes
- Not allowed: shorts, skirts, open-toed shoes, high heels or sandals.
Additional information
- Visits will be cancelled on days declared a Total Fire Ban or catastrophic danger rating or when air quality is very poor or extremely poor
- Tours to the wetlands will be cancelled on days of extreme, catastrophic and Total Fire Ban danger ratings
- Tours will need to be cancelled when a situation at the site is deemed unsafe.
